Summer holiday activities for youngsters in Surrey Heath

Released on 27 July 2010

Mini-Beast Hunting - looking at ladybirdsIf you're looking for ways to entertain children and young people this summer there's plenty going on in Surrey Heath.

A variety of leisure and sports activities have been organised with events being offered by Surrey Heath Borough Council, leisure centres, libraries, children centres, colleges and many more.

Surrey Heath Borough Council's own activities include some exciting ranger led sessions at Lightwater Country Park, including totem pole painting (4 August) and mini-beast hunting (5 and 12 August). The sessions for 8 to 12 year olds cost £10 per child per session and must be pre-booked by calling 01276 479582.

Among the activities on offer from other service providers are soccer coaching, squash and trampoline workshops, go-karting and performing arts tuition.

Portfolio holder for arts and leisure Councillor Craig Fennell said: "All these summer activities are a great way to occupy youngsters during the school holidays and the range of choice offers something for everyone.

"As well as being great fun, they enable young people the chance to develop new skills, gain valuable experiences, mix with people from other areas and make new friends."
