Dusk Discoveries in Lightwater
Released on 18 June 2010
Anyone who ever wondered what creatures roam Surrey Heath's green spaces when the sun goes down now has the chance to find out more.
On several evenings this month families can join a Surrey Heath Ranger on a stroll around Lightwater Country Park, looking out for the creatures that wake up when darkness falls.
Meet outside the Lightwater Visitor Centre on Friday 18, Tuesday 22, Thursday 24 or Saturday 26 June at 9.15pm. The walk will last approximately 2 hours. If you have binoculars bring them along and wear warm clothes as it may get cooler in the evening.
The event is suitable for parents and older children. Sorry no dogs allowed.
Portfolio holder for arts and leisure, Councillor Craig Fennell said: "If you're not afraid of the dark and would relish the chance to go out for a night time stroll with a knowledgeable guide these events are not to be missed.
"They are the perfect way to get to grips with nature and if you're lucky you could see Nightjars, bats and tawny owls."
