Green fingered residents are urged to get planting ready to take part in the 18th annual Surrey Heath in Bloom competition.
Organised by Surrey Heath Borough Council, the competition is the borough's own gardening contest which encourages local people to improve their outdoor environment through the imaginative use of flowers, shrubs, crops and landscaping.
This year there are seven different categories to choose from including best front garden, best hanging basket and tallest Sunflower, along with a new category, the best "in-bloom" photo. Entry to the competition is free; with some great prizes to be won including £50 National Gardening Vouchers and a one year family membership of The Arena Leisure Centre in Camberley.
Portfolio holder for arts and leisure, Cllr Craig Fennell said: "This is a fantastic event for all residents to get involved in. Entries are invited from everyone in Surrey Heath and there are lots of opportunities for all sections of the community to come together to make the borough a better place to work and live in. Whether it's a flowering hanging basket or a lively front garden, all contributions are greatly appreciated."
Entry forms are available from borough libraries and on www.surreyheath.gov.uk by looking under Arts and Leisure and then Surrey Heath in Bloom 2010.
