Views sought for the future of Deepcut

Released on 06 May 2009

Princess Royal Barracks, DeepcutSurrey Heath Borough Council would like to hear your views about the future of the Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut in preparation of the MOD's departure in 2013.

The barracks, which has been the headquarters of the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) of the British Army since its formation in 1993 will close in four years time. The Council is in the early stages of considering how the released site could be used for new development.

The local community's views on the future of Deepcut are vital in determining the direction this small settlement will take in the future and the Council would like to hear from people who live, work and shop in Deepcut. In particular, the Council want to know what the community think of their local area and how they would like to see the character and shape of Deepcut change in the future.

Portfolio holder for Built Environment Cllr Keith Bush said: "This questionnaire gives the public the opportunity to help shape the future of Deepcut and is important in drawing up options to be used in future consultations on what should happen at Deepcut."

"I would urge anyone who receives a questionnaire from Surrey Heath Borough Council to complete and return it so that we can draw up an informed list of options for the site, based on the vision of the local community."

Questionnaires will be circulated from April 30 and must be returned by May 29. For more information about the future of the Princess Royal Barracks site please contact planning policy on 01276 707213 or email planning.policy@surreyheath.gov.uk
