Chance to chat about nappies over a cuppa

Released on 25 October 2006

Parents can learn more about the washable nappy choices that are available at a coffee morning with a twist.

A Nappuccino will be held at the Arena Leisure Centre Opens in a new window in Camberley, where experts from the Surrey Real Nappy Network Opens in a new window will share real nappy experiences with new and expectant parents via displays, demonstrations and talks, over a cup of coffee.

The network comprises of mums, midwives, health visitors and friends who will help attendees find a nappy system to suit them.

The event, which will be held on Tuesday, November 7, between 10am and noon, has been organised by Surrey Heath Borough Council and will give Borough residents more information about a £25 cash back scheme available to them against purchases of washable nappies.

Portfolio Holder for Customer Care Cllr Vivienne Chapman said: "This is a great opportunity for new and expectant parents to find out about the washable nappy choices available to them. The Surrey Real Nappy Network has members whose experience with using and choosing washable nappy systems suit all budgets and babies."

She continued: "Currently all disposable nappy waste in Surrey Heath goes to landfill and these nappies take at least 100 years to disintegrate therefore causing huge problems for the environment. By using washable nappies it dramatically reduces the amount of nappy waste that needs to be landfilled and is therefore more environmentally friendly."

The event is free to attend and there will also be a children's play area along with refreshments.
