Olympic medallist and businesses come together for breakfast

Released on 02 October 2012

businessbreakfastsept2012Olympic medallist Karina Bryant was among the line-up of guest speakers at Surrey Heath's Business Breakfast in the Camberley Theatre on Friday 28 September.

Organised by Surrey Heath Borough Council, the event is a great way for local business - big and small - to showcase themselves and network. Running for over 11 years, the breakfast events are well attended with over 160 delegates pouring into the theatre.
This year's theme was businesses and communities working together and included presentations from Steve Coburn of Collectively Camberley - made up of businesses in Camberley town centre, Helen Pyttlik of Waitrose Community Matters and Danny Pecorelli, Chair of Camberley Judo Club.

Steve Coburn spoke about the continuing growth and development of the town centre while Helen Pyttlik told the audience all about the company's Green Token scheme which sees three local groups or charities receive a share of £1000 each month. Meanwhile, Danny Pecorelli thanked local businesses for their support and sponsorship over the years and unveiled plans for the future of the club.

A highlight was welcoming Olympic bronze medallist Karina Bryant to the stage, as she proudly paraded her medal which she won whilst competing in Judo at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Many attendees took the chance to speak with her and she was happy to pose for photographs with many wanting a chance to see and hold her medal.

Following breakfast and speeches, there were more networking opportunities, with delegates visiting the numerous exhibition stands, finding out more about the companies and their services.

Cllr Moira Gibson, leader of the council said: "Once again it has been a successful Business Breakfast. The event went very well and the delegates I spoke to afterwards found it useful. This event has become a main fixture in local businesses calendars and because of the high turnout we continue to keep running it. It's a great way for existing and new businesses in Surrey Heath to network, share ideas and contacts."

Registration for the next business breakfast event, which will be held on 1 March 2013, is now open. For more information on attending or exhibiting please visit www.surreyheath.gov.uk/business or call 01276 707312.
