As part of the National Bandstand Marathon event, Surrey Heath Borough Council will be holding an event on Sunday 9 September to mark the closing of the Olympic and Paralympic games that have gripped the nation this summer!
The event will be a free, fun family event with performances from the Camberley Youth Wind Orchestra. Held in Frimley Lodge Park from 1pm until 5pm, it will feature two performances by the orchestra at 1pm and 2.45pm.
The National Bandstand Marathon is a nationwide event that aims to bring live music to bandstands and outdoor spaces all at the same time on the same day! It also marks the conclusion of the 2012 London Paralympics, with the closing ceremony taking place that day.
Camberley Youth Wind Orchestra, formed 29 years ago, has over 140 young people registered as members between the ages of 10 and 18 who live and study in the Surrey Heath area. As well as performing in concerts locally in the borough, Camberley Youth Wind Orchestra has also been lucky enough to perform all over Europe and as far as Canada. Asides from live music, there will also be a host of things to see and do at Frimley Lodge Park on the day. Flourish Community Gardens will be hosting Olympic themed activities, while there is free face painting to entertain the young and young at heart! Have-a-Go sports will be on offer and Pistachio's will be serving their usual selection of food and drink plus a delicious barbecue!
