Eversley Bridge to Jouldings Lane

Anglers at New MillDistance 2.1/4 miles

1. Be very careful crossing the road and continue over Eversley Bridge.

2. Just before reaching the post box turn right and go through small gate beside Bakers Farm House. This path is first narrow then widens to have an open character with a ditch on one side and open fields on the other.

3. Through the gate turn left to follow a wooded field boundary. At the corner of this field go through gate and directly right along an avenue of Holly trees.

4. Go right in front of livery stables, then left and straight across first paddock.

5. In the second paddock veer left and exit field through gate, follow path and turn right onto the road leading down to New Mill.

6. After crossing River at New Mill follow road then take first left down minor, dead end road, towards Greenacres Farm.

New Mill is now a restaurant but the sluice gates and mill pond are still present. This downstream section of the River Blackwater is large enough to support Barbel. A fish pass has recently been installed next to the sluice gates to enable these and other fish to move upstream. This is especially important during the spring spawning run.

7. After passing Greenacres Farm (Note: there are a couple of other dwellings along this road) take track leading down towards the River and when track surfacing ends cross stile and follow green lane.

8. Turn right over stile and cross fields, passing on the way one stile then two stiles linking fields.

9. Turn left over stile keeping fence and River close on your left until Jouldings Lane.
