The Winners

Male Sports Personality of the Year

Winner - Jamie East - Athletics
 
  • Ranked 9th in the UK and 1st in Surrey for senior 110m hurdles although he is still only under 20
  • Regularly competes in 5 events using his multi-event skills at a match to gain as many points for his team as possible
  • He helps coach youngsters and is an inspiring role model
  • Jamie has excelled for the club this season and is a well respected and model athlete
  • He leads by example and inspires his team to follow his high level of performance and sportsmanship

Female Sports Personality of the Year

Winner - Sophie Johnstone - Judo
 
  • Current back to back British Champion U52 Kgs and GBR senior number 1
  • Recent results - 7th World Cup in Sofia1st British Championships, 1st Welsh Open Cardiff
  • As a fighter she is aggressive and dynamic with excellent throws and groundwork.
  • Sophie works part time with youngsters helping to cultivate their interest in sport and is a great role model to the younger members of the club. She is a credit to Camberley Judo Club.

Young Male Sports Personality of the Year

Winner - Zak Jesse - Slalom
 
  • Combined English Champion for the second year running in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G.
  • Scottish championships he came 2nd in Slalom, 3rd in Super Giant Slalom and 2nd in the combined championships.

Young Female Sports Personality of The year

Winner - Jessica Carl - Judo
 
  • U12 British champion
  • Won the Independent Schools Championships and the Surrey U16 trial. She then went on to represent Surrey in the inter counties at U16 despite only being 11! where the team achieved silver medal position
  • She was invited to train with the England Cadets.

Sports Team of the Year

Winner - Valley End Village Cup Team
 
  • Winners of the npower national village cup at Lords with a 24 run victory over the reigning champions
  • Average age of just 22 Years Old
  • All but two of the squad are products of Valley End CC youth system

Young Sports Team of the Year

Winner - Isobel & Naomi Smith - K2 Kayak
 
  • Selected to race for the GB Junior team
  • Recent results:
    - 1st U14 K2 500m & 100m and marathon at the British National championships
    - 1st Ladies K2 races
    - Overall series winners in the ladies K2 and Junior K2 for the second year running
  • This Easter they competed in an international 125mile canoe race coming first in the junior ladies and 3rd overall

Young Volunteer of the Year

Winner - Lucy Brown - Netball
 
  • Lucy has been a member of the Surrey Heath Netball Club for 4 years. She attends training early every Tuesday to collect the subs & do the register.
  • Lucy started umpiring for the club as soon as she turned 14 and was legally allowed to.
  • She assists the Under 13 team manager which involves umpiring, team talks, and coordinating the girls at matches.
  • Lucy is a confident and mature 15 year old who is an asset to netball & the club, who gives up a lot of her free time to help others and promote the sport

Outstanding Service to Sport

Winner - Mick Carr - Cricket
 
  • Chobham Cricket Clubs grounds man and has given his time and hard work as a volunteer for over 10 years.
  • He is at the club most days during the season and regularly in off season.
  • He has gone over and above his duties as grounds man to ensure the club is able to provide cricket to the local community
