What are the Surrey Sports Club Forums?
Active Surrey and the 11 Borough and District Sports Development teams run a series of free forums across Surrey to provide clubs with up to date information and resources alongside advice and support on key topics to help grow your club.

Following consultation with over 80 of Surrey's Sports Clubs in August 2010, key topics were identified to assist local sports clubs to develop and improve. Based on this feedback the first set of forums, which ran in January and February 2011, and covered the following topics:

Get involved with London 2012 - With London 2012 just around the corner, now is the time for your club to plan how you can benefit from the event and its legacy. This presentation aims to up date you on what is happening with sport in your community in light of London 2012 and how your club can benefit and get involved.

Grow your membership - Feedback from clubs indicated that most wanted some advice and ideas about how to attract and retain new junior and senior members. This interactive session will provide you with a range of successful case studies and ideas, which can be transferred to your club to help you to increase your membership.

Grow your income - This workshop aims to up skill you to be able to effectively apply for different funding grants and to understand the processes involved. You will also get to meet some of the people who can help and support your club to search and apply for grants. Furthermore, you will receive up to date information about what funding is currently available to clubs.

• Updates - This session will inform you of all the latest updates surrounding sport nationally and locally including:
• Child Protection - What are the latest changes with CRBs and the Vetting and Barring System and how does this affect clubs, and how can clubs protect themselves with the fast growing popularity of social networking.
• Club Accreditation - What is happening in Surrey with ASCA and Club Mark, and how it affects clubs.
• Facilities - Meet the people who can advise and support clubs in your local area with facilities and what funding is available to improve and develop facilities.
• Coach Development - How can clubs recruit and train coaches.
• Local Provision - Meet the people and organisations who can support your club locally.

Who should attend the forums?
Anyone can attend the forums, however we recommend that you send at least two club representatives to get the most benefit from the evening, as we'll be running some presentations / sessions alongside each other.

When is my next local forum taking place and how do I book?
The next forums will be taking place across Surrey in January and February 2012 and are Free to attend, however places need to be pre-booked. Further details will be available later in 2011.
