Enjoying sport as part of a healthy lifestyleWhat is it about?

  • Children and their families will learn about being healthy, fit and active.
  • The programme will support local children who are at risk of being overweight, to start and continue healthy eating and physical activity programmes with the support of their families
  • The Fit for life programme is based on the latest research which shows that the best way for your children to be fit and healthy is to eat a healthy diet and being more physically active.

The Programme aims to:

  • Improve children's physical activity levels
  • Decrease the length of time children spend watching television or playing inactive computer games
  • Improve children's health eating habits
  • Improve children's self-esteem

How does it work?

  • You attend a 6 week weight management course at the arena leisure centre!
  • An hour and a half once a week.
  • Each group session will provide information and support on weight issues including healthy eating, physical activity and keeping motivated.
  • Each week will consist of at least 45 minutes of exercise
  • Each child will be given a diary where they will record their levels of food intake and physical activity each week
  • Cost £12

We will be able to offer additional support and motivate you to become physically more active.
