This popular annual event gives thousands of young people the opportunity to
take part in sports and represent their borough.

The Games aim to:

  • Celebrate youth sport
  • To provide meaningful activities for young people
  • To create a spirit of friendly competition
  • Provide competition for young people with sporting potential, introducing them to new sports
  • Getting young people active

The Games encourage young people of all levels of ability to get involved with a wide range of sports that include netball, rugby, squash and badminton.

The Surrey Youth Games culminates in an energetic presentation ceremony at the Camberley Theatre which is attended by young people, their families, local businesses and Surrey Heath Borough Council representatives.

Over 2000 young people from across Surrey competed in the 2008 Games.

More than 300 young people, tried out for one of the 13 sports involved and over 200 were selected to represent Surrey Heath at the Games in Guildford over the weekend 21st & 22nd June 2008. Surrey Heath entered 19 out of the 24 events meaning even more young people than last year had the opportunity to take part.
