Although the major habitat within Surrey Heath is Heathland, the Borough also contains a good selection of woodlands.
A large proportion of these are in the ownership of the MoD or the Crown Estates but many have some public access.
The majority of the woodland owned and managed by Surrey Heath are smaller sites but are important landscape and wildlife features.
These sites include Chobham Place Woods with its majestic old avenues of Pine, Beech and Sweet Chestnut trees, Warren Wood a small remnant of ancient woodland which once covered the whole Warren Rise Estate and Diamond Ridge Woods, an important landscape feature providing a natural buffer between the A30 and the residential area of the Old Dean.
This site lies adjacent onto the much larger area of countryside known as Bagshot Heath so is an important connecting corridor for wildlife.
All of the woodlands owned by Surrey Heath are managed by the Greenspace Team.
