Free Sports sessions for young people who attend a school within Surrey Heath
Extending Activities is part of the new 5 hour offer for young people in England. Nationally, £36m of new Government funding for young people's sport has been ring fenced for this programme. Surrey has been allocated £98,700 to engage 2,592 semi sporty young people by March 2009. A further £292,200 will be available in Year 2 & 3 to support another 8,892 young people participate in more sport.
Surrey Heath Borough Council has secured funding to run activities in this programme: a girls only Teenfit session and a boys fitness circuit session.
Extending Activities funding is targeted at "semi-sporty" children, young people and young people. It will engage them in an extra 1-2 hours a week (minimum 10 weeks) of high quality sport and physical activity.
