IGC Consultation Survey

You may have heard about the changes and enhancements to community services that are currently being proposed within the borough. These proposed changes are set to transform the Ian Goodchild Centre (ICG) centre for older people in Knoll Road, Camberley, into a multi-functional community venue that people of all ages, and existing IGC customers, can enjoy. As part of this process, we are carrying out a comprehensive consultation with the existing customers of the IGC and our other centre for older people in Windle Valley, as well as with their carers/families, which is currently ongoing. In addition, we are keen to hear the views of the wider community and stakeholders.

We would be grateful if you could take the time to complete our online survey by Friday 26 March 2010.

Be assured that no decisions will be made about the future of the IGC until we have completed our extensive consultations, and carried out a full equality impact assessment.

Recycling - Eco Schools, Year 8 n-gage, Energy: Doors and lights

Aim: Identify parts of the school that could save more energy (heating/electricity)

Ideas should be simple, low cost and practical.

Recycling - Eco Schools, Year 8 n-gage, Food Waste: it's a wrap!

Aim: ideas to communicate that lining your food waste container helps to ensure that the food waste caddy is emptied completely.

Compostable bags or newspaper can be used to wrap food waste. This has been highlighted in all the literature about the new service, but many residents have not realised. Lining the containers will also help keep the containers clean.

Generate some good ideas for telling people that they can wrap their food waste in newspaper or use compostable liners. This could be a slogan, diagram, story, web page or poster...

Recycling - Eco Schools, Year 8 n-gage, Graffiti: pointless vandalism...?

Aim: understand why graffiti is so appealing and explore its impact on the local community

Think about where you see graffiti, why it is there and what impression it creates.

Banksy is regarded as an artist by many-his canvas is a often a wall or a bridge or a building and his medium is spray paint. His work is often poetic, humourous, contextual and thought-provoking.

.....is it creative vandalism or innovative art.....?

Recycling - Eco Schools, Year 8 n-gage, Litter- not your problem?

Aim: identify Litter Hot Spots in /around the school grounds. Identify why is this happening and what the possible solutions may be.

For the last 3 years Collingwood has taken part in the Litter Free School Awards. The school has been divided into 'Upper' and 'Lower' and the amount of litter in each of these areas has been graded. These grades determine the level of the award achieved- gold silver or bronze.

Last academic year was a landmark year as the Upper school achieved their first Silver Award...

Identifying litter hot-spots and solutions to combat people dropping litter will help toward a litter-free environment- and hopefully a Gold Litter Free School Award!

Recycling - Eco Schools, Year 8 n-gage, Model Classroom: Transferable ideas

Aim: look at small changes that could, when applied across the school, result in big savings (i.e paper, energy etc.)

Ideas should be simple, low cost and practical.

Think about heating, lighting, paper, computers.
It is useful to highlight aspects that you cannot easily change or control i.e. heating

Recycling - Eco Schools, Year 8 n-gage, Recycling: A room with a message

Aim: By using different areas of the home, develop a way of communicating which items can/cannot be recycled.

The kitchen is possibly the best room in the home that illutrstaes what CAN be recycled. The bathroom offers some good examples of what CANNOT be recycled.
