Refuse

Residents have done a fantasic job of reducing their waste

The amount of rubbish as reduced from about 70% (2008) to an impressive 36% (2010)

Refuse collections
Standard Waste Bin Set

 

Refuse is collected every fortnight from the majority of households. A grey, 180 litre wheeled bin has been provided as standard

Examples
Refuse Bin

The refuse bin is for non-recyclable items. Examples include;
-crockery and ceramics
-polystyrene packaging and plastic coat hangers
-cleaning materials
-sachets (e.g. cat food)
-animal waste & bedding
-cooking oil (please contain i.e plastic bottle)
-sanitary items (double wrapping recomended)
-cigarette butts
Items such as paint, DIY, garden waste should not be put in your refuse bin
Items that should not go in the refuse bin

Excess refuse or items that should not be put in the refuse bin* can be taken to

Wilton Road or Swift Lane (Recycling Centres)

Where does the refuse go?Refuse is taken to a transfer sation in Ash Vale. The majority of refuse is currently sent for Energy Recovery
