What to do if your bin is missed

Before contacting us, please check that your bin and/or food waste caddy were;

  • out for collection by 6am
  • put at the edge of your property

Please contact our helpline on 01276 707330 during office hours or outside this time, please contact 01276 707100 or email environmental.health@surreyheath.gov.uk.

Messages left will be actioned during normal office hours 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday and 8:00am to 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday. Alternatively, to report a missed collection by email, please complete the missed collection Opens in a new window form.


Our aim is to provide a trouble-free Refuse Service, but sometimes problems can occur. We have tried to set out what you can expect and what to do if things go wrong.

  • Crews will be unable to collect containers that have been contaminated- please refer to the list on the lid of your wheeled bins
  • If your bin or food waste caddy is missed and our contractor was at fault, we aim to collect within 24 hours of notification.
  • Please notify us of any refuse spillages on the highways.
  • Crews have been instructed to only empty official containers.
  • Information is delivered to households to advise of collection arrangements during statutory holidays.
