The Community Recycling Centres in Surrey Heath accept a wide range of materials that can be recycled. The following table contains a number of items that require careful disposal.

Both wet cell (car batteries) and dry cell ('domestic' batteries) can be recycled

Battery for recyclingFrom February 2010, shops selling more than 32kg of batteries a year (approx 345 x four-packs of AA batteries) will have to provide battery recycling collection facilities in-store. This means there will be lots more places where you can take your old batteries for recycling.
  • Low energy light bulbs
  • Fluorescent tubes

Fluorescent Tube for recyclingBoth contain toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury. It is important that these items do not end up in landfill as they can cause soil or water pollution.

For large items, the council operates a Bulky Waste Collection
