Batteries and Electrical Items

The Community Recycling Centres in Surrey Heath accept a wide range of materials that can be recycled. The following table contains a number of items that require careful disposal.

Both wet cell (car batteries) and dry cell ('domestic' batteries) can be recycled Wilton Road Opens in a new window (Camberley) and Swift Lane Opens in a new window (Bagshot) have recycling points for these items.	From February 2010, shops selling more than 32kg of batteries a year (approx 345 x four-packs of AA batteries) will have to provide battery recycling collection facilities in-store. This means there will be lots more places where you can take your old batteries for recycling.
Low energy light bulbs Fluorescent tubes Wilton Road Opens in a new window (Camberley) and Swift Lane Opens in a new window (Bagshot) have recycling points for these items.	Both contain toxic heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury. It is important that these items do not end up in landfill as they can cause soil or water pollution.
Electrical items Kettles Toasters Radios Microwave Ovens Cookers Dishwashers Televisions Washing machines Wilton Road Opens in a new window (Camberley) and Swift Lane Opens in a new window (Bagshot) have recycling points for these items.	For large items, the council operates a Bulky Waste Collection View charges for this service
Computers Keyboards Monitors Scanners Printers Printer Cartridges Wilton Road Opens in a new window (Camberley) and Swift Lane Opens in a new window (Bagshot) have recycling points for these items.
