Untaxed vehicles are removed and stored by a local recovery firm in Aldershot (0800 330999). If you would like to recover your vehicle, you will need to contact them to arrange this.

Fees to release a motor car are as follows: (Fees vary for different classes of vehicles)

  • Within 24 hours £100
  • After 24 hours £200

There is a £21 per day storage charge after 48 hours (from the time of the offence).

A valid tax disc must also be produced. If you do not have a valid tax disc then a £160 surety fee must be paid. You may also be liable for any unpaid tax.

Vehicles of a value of less than £500 will be stored for 7 days before disposal. Those over £500 will be kept for a minimum of 14 before disposal.

You will also need to produce a valid V5C registration certificate. If you do not possess this, you will need to pay £25 and complete a V62 form. All fees and documents must be sent/delivered to the removal contractor.

Surrey Heath Borough Council undertakes no part in the collection of fines or checking of documents - you will need to contact the removal contractor (0800 330999) and/or DVLA (01792 788216) if you have queries regarding tax, removal or ownership.
