To Help Us
- Please tie your refuse and garden waste sacks to avoid spillages and keep the Borough clean.
- Please ensure that your waste is available for collection at any time on your collection day.
- If you put out your own refuse, please do so no earlier than the previous evening.
- Please wrap broken glass/crockery and other sharp items carefully to avoid injury to our collectors.
- Do not put paint cans in with your waste - this causes spills that are expensive to remove from both vehicles and roads.
Recycling
Surrey Heath Borough Council also operate a weekly recycling collection scheme for paper, cans and green waste.
- Newspapers, magazines and catalogues should be placed in a carrier bag and left alongside your normal refuse. The paper will be collected by a different vehicle, but on the same day and taken to be recycled.
- Please do not include cardboard of any type or "Yellow Pages" as the material is not suitable for this particular scheme. It can be taken to the card board recycling bins at most sites.
- Cans should be rinsed and placed in a separate carrier bag.
For further information on the environment and recycling, please see the recycling section of the site.
Our aim is to provide a trouble-free Refuse Service, but sometimes problems can occur. We have tried to set out what you can expect and what to do if things go wrong.
- If crews are unable to collect your refuse due to a locked gate etc a card will be left explaining why.
- If your refuse is missed and you notify us the same day, it should be collected by the following afternoon at the latest.
- Please notify us of any refuse spillages on the highways.
- Gates and cupboard doors should be closed on leaving your premises.
- Crews will remove all your domestic waste provided it is put into a reasonable container. (Please note that there is a charge for the removal of garden waste, items too big for the sack and items in excess of 25 kg).
- A batch of 30 replacement sacks will be delivered to your premises twice a year.
- An information card is delivered to households each September to advise of collection arrangements during statutory holidays. This information is also available on this website under revised refuse collection day for statutory holidays.
