Microwave OvenSince July 2007 all items that use electricity are now covered by the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (the WEEE directive).

It is worth checking with the retailer if your are having a new appliance like a washing machine delivered as they have a (producer) responsibility under the WEEE directive.

Surrey Heath Borough Council offer a bulky waste collection for items such as dishwashers, washing machines, microwave ovens and cookers. There is a charge for this service (see table below). Electrical items collected will be taken to be either recycled or reprocessed.
