Battery for recyclingBoth wet cell (car batteries) and dry cell ('domestic' batteries) can be recycled at your local Community Recycling Centres (tip/dump)

It is important that these items are diverted from landfill as they contain toxic heavy metals such as nickel, cadmium and lead that can cause soil or water pollution.

Since July 2005, batteries are classified as hazardous waste and must NOT be disposed of in with your general refuse.
