In May 2010, members of the Surrey Heath Group of the Ramblers had a very enjoyable walking holiday around our twin town in Germany, Bietigheim-Bissingen. During the week, they enjoyed a guided tour of the town, a reception in the Town Hall where the Chairman of their Group presented the Deputy Mayor with a framed picture, and many local walks accompanied by members of the Bietigheim Ramblers. Making new friends in this way must surely be the original intention of town twinning.

When not walking, they tasted the local wines, the local schnapps, and examined the local car (Porsche!) in the new museum. Already their new German walking friends are talking about a return visit next year.
