Transparency

Transparency in local government

The coalition government has pledged greater transparency across the public sector through publishing data to strengthen accountability to citizens. They believe that greater transparency will reduce public sector expenditure and reduce waste.

Surrey Heath is committed to providing residents with information that explains how we spend their money. The Government has set down guidelines as to the format of this information to enable residents to compare the performance of one authority against another. The data available is as follows:

This data is freely re-usable under the same terms as data.gov.uk:

Payment to suppliers The attached reports list the payments to Suppliers where the total payment to suppliers (excluding tax) is greater than or equal to £500.

Senior Salary information

A snapshot is taken on October 1 and April 1 of each year of the salaries of senior staff. This covers the chief executive and top two tiers of senior staff.

Surrey Heath, as a public body, is covered by the Freedom of Information Act. This Act gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held.

Information will be available through the data.gov.uk Opens in a new window - opening up government website which links all public sector bodies together.
