Councillor Bruce Mansell was chosen as Surrey Heath's 40th Mayor at the Borough Council's Annual Meeting on Wednesday 16 May 2012. Councillor Mansell has lived in Frimley for 56 years and prior to retiring in 1996 worked for a major Bank in the City.

Surrey Heath became a District Council with Borough status conferred by Royal Charter, on 1st April 1974 following the Local Government Act 972. Since this time the post of Surrey Heath Mayor has been elected.
