I was born in Hounslow and moved to Camberley in 1962. I am widowed with three daughters all of whom went to local state schools. I have been a Surrey Heath councillor for Town ward since 1991 and was the "Millennium" Mayor of the borough in 1999/2000.
After completing my national service in the R.A.F. I spent most of my working career in a trade, investment and marketing role for Australian state governments, which included a secondment to Australia for several years to work in the Premier's department.
During my time as a councillor I have served on many committees and working groups and been chairman of several of them.
I have played an active part in local affairs such as a school governor, a trustee of Frimley and Camberley Age Concern and a supporter of Frimley Park Hospital. I am also a member of Mensa.
