I have lived and worked in and around the borough of Surrey Heath since 1985, running my own business as a Chartered Accountant as well as being involved in a number of other small businesses as adviser and/or investor. I have also since then lobbied for small and medium sized businesses (SME's) to local and national government and to the European Parliament.
My first local election as a candidate was in 2003 where I was returned as a Councillor for Watchetts Ward, which I am proud still to represent having been re-elected with an increased majority in 2007 and again in 2011.
In May 2010 I am delighted to say I was elected Mayor of Surrey Heath for the year 2010/2011 having been Deputy Mayor during 2009/10 I am now effectively, the Immediate Past Mayor.
Down to my election as Mayor in May 2010 I was a member of The Community Scrutiny Committee and the Policy and Audit Scrutiny Committee. I continue to be a member of the Finance and Asset Management Working Group which advises the Executive.
My charities as Mayor were in a number of smaller Surrey Heath based charities that receive little financial help for their activities and the Heart to Heart Appeal and Prostate Cancer Unit both at Frimley Park Hospital. I continue to support these charities through the charity I set up in honour of my daughter Lisa. As a Councillor my aim is to work with our team in Surrey Heath to make this a great place to live and work.
I am married to Juliette and have five children who are now grown up and off our hands we think.
We run a charity in the name of my daughter Lisa May who died in the Tsunami in Thailand in 2004.
