I have lived in Surrey Heath for over 35 years and during that time I have been involved in community affairs as a member of the PTA and as a Governor of a local school. I was first elected to represent the residents of Parkside Ward in 1999 and have been a member as well as Chairman on a number of committees.
In 2003, I joined the Executive and in 2005 became Deputy Leader.
At the start of the Council year 2009 / 2010, I stood down from my role on the Executive. During my time as a Portfolio Holder and prior to that as Chairman of the Resources Committee, I had been responsible for seven Council Tax settlements in a period of much change and unprecedented financial pressures and just not for SHBC.
Having stood down from the Executive, I was for a year Chairman of the Policy and Audit Scrutiny Committee then a year on the "back benches" before returning this last year to chair P&A. I am also a member of the Planning Applications Committee as well as various sub-committees and working groups.
I have now completed the degree course I was undertaking with the Open University.
I am married to Josephine, a fellow Parkside Ward Councillor and we have two children both of whom have progressed through local schools, university and have achieved Masters. Although I have a wide range of interests including Life Long Learning, Environment and Sustainability, my ongoing aim whilst a Councillor is to support all residents in Parkside in the issues that impact on us all, especially over development, motorway noise and inconsiderate parking.
