Councillor Colin Dougan

Councillor Colin DouganI first moved to Camberley in 1988 when I attended the Royal Military Academy. I was then posted to Germany, and also served in the first Gulf War and Northern Ireland where I was 'Mentioned in Dispatches'. I returned to Camberley in 1993 and started a new career in telecommunications. I now live in St Michael's Ward.

I am married to Sarah with three children who all attend local schools. I was a Governor at Camberley Infant and Nursery School for 7 years and Vice Chairman in my last year. I was a keen Rugby player and now coach and referee in the Minis section at Camberley Rugby Football Club.

I was elected to the Council in May 2007 and was a member of a number of committees, including Planning Applications Committee, Atrium Liaison Forum, Camberley Town Centre StrategicWorking Group and the Local Development Framework Working Group.

In May 2008 I was elected to the Executive and held the Organisational Development Portfolio with the responsibility for Major Change Programmes, Information Technology, Human Resources and Equality and Diversity. I now hold the Corporate Portfolio with responsibility for The Town Centre Strategy, Customer Consultation, PR, the Contact Centre Strategy and I am also the "Children's Champion".
