The challenges facing the Council are:

  • Maintaining Surrey Heath as a pleasant place to live, work, do business and enjoy leisure
  • The improvement of Camberley Town Centre following the completion of the Atrium.
  • The replacement of the Arena Leisure Centre
  • Improving waste management, particularly recycling, in line with the new waste contract due to be introduced during 2009
  • Addressing the situation around Special Protection Areas (SPAs)
  • Preparing the Local Development Framework to achieve sustainable land use patterns and to prepare for sustainable construction
  • Improving planning services for residents and businesses
  • The provision of key worker affordable housing
  • Planning for demographic change
  • Tackling localised traffic congestion
  • Enabling partners to deliver services from the Contact Centre
  • Meeting the need for services from limited resources
  • Recommendations from the Strategic Housing Inspection 2007
  • To work to achieve legislative equality requirements
