Q: Am I entitled to a discount?
A: If you are over 18 years old and living in a property on your own you are entitled to a 25% discount off your full Council tax bill
Q: How do I claim?
A: You can claim your 25% discount byclicking here to download an on-line Single Persons Discount form Opens in a new window, or alternatively contact the Council Tax team for a form to be sent to you.
If someone leaves the property and you are the sole remaining adult, let us know:-
· Who has left
· The date they left and;
· Their forwarding address.
Q: How long will the discount last?
A: The discount will continue for as long as you occupy the property as a sole adult.
We annually review your 25% discount award to make sure your circumstances have not changed, but if someone else over 18 moves in while you are in receipt of a single person discount, you must inform us immediately. We will take legal action against anyone who fraudulently claims a discount which they are not entitled to.
