Council Tax Banding Appeals
Council Tax Revaluation
The Government announced on 20 September 2005 that it was postponing the revaluation of Council Tax in England. It will legislate to provide new powers to set a future date for the revaluation so that it too can be part of a fully developed package of funding reforms, taking full account of the ongoing Lyons Inquiry.
Media Coverage
A recent media campaign has highlighted the opportunity for Council Tax payers to challenge the council tax band of their property. Please be advised that all queries regarding council tax banding including requests for banding reductions must be directed to the Valuation Office.
Please be advised you must continue paying your council tax whilst appealing. If you are successful and your council tax is reduced any credit will be refunded to you.
