The Surrey Heath Local Plan was adopted in December 2000 and set out policies for development in the Borough. The plan dealt with the period up to 2006 and is now being replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF). The LDF will set out a strategy for achieving sustainable development in the Borough for the period up to 2026.
In particular, the LDF will seek to reconcile the need for new housing development withthe protection of the internationally important heathland habitat within the Borough. The first part of the LDF, the Core Strategy, is due for adoption by the end of 2007. Issues and Options documents dealing with Housing Need, Infrastructure and Camberley Town Centre will be published during the course of 2006.
