Home Improvements

Home Improvement Agency

Dealing with builders and architects can become a very daunting process. The Council's Home Improvement Agency can take much of the worry and strain away from you. The agency will appoint a Home Improvement Advisor to help you through the whole process. The advisor will help you decide what form of financial assistance would best suit your needs, fill in the forms, draw up plans and specifications of work, obtain any necessary planning and building control approvals, invite estimates from reliable builders and supervise the work through to completion. A fee of 16% of the costs of the work is charged for the services of the agency but this can be added to the grant or loan.

Homelink
The Council works in partnership with Homelink, a home improvement agency that not only provides advice and services that enable the elderly or disabled residents to repair, improve or adapt their homes, but also advises on many other issues as well.
