Surrey Heath's Community Panel has been established since 1999.
Introduction
1400 Surrey Heath residents will have their say in matters affecting their local area.
The people on the panel will need to be representative of the local population and area. Teenagers to pensioners from Camberley to Chobham will be able to participate in the scheme.
The Web page gives a general explanation of what being a panel member involves and what a difference they can make.
Customer Care Portfolio holder Cllr Vivienne Chapman says "the Panel helps the Council in a variety of ways from looking at specific services such as refuse collection to wider community issues such as crime and safety. It is about making informed choices and decisions for all our futures".
What Do Panel Members Do?
Panel Members are invited a few times a year to give their views on local matters via postal and electronic surveys, to assist the Council and other public sector organisations to respond to the needs of the community.
In order to ensure that views are generally representative of the community samples may be drawn, so you may not necessarily be consulted on all issues.
Where are My Details Kept?
Your personal details will be held separately from any questionnaire returns so that your views and opinions will be anonymous. There is a Panel Members' database just to hold your contact and membership details. All details are held in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
How can I become a Member of the Community Panel?
