Community Plan/Community Strategy
Following changes in government legislation, Surrey Heath Borough Council, along with partners is reviewing the existing Community Plan with the intention of producing a new Community Strategy.
The Strategy will build on the success of the Community Plan and will help the Council and its partners continue to promote the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the Borough.
The review will be carried out by a cross section of the community and will involve input from private, public and voluntary sector groups. The views of the people who live and work in the Borough will also be sought and will be instrumental in the development of the new Strategy.
Like the existing Community Plan, the aim of the new Strategy will be to continue to improve the quality of life for people in Surrey Heath by:
Encouraging people within Surrey Heath to articulate their hopes, needs and priorities for the Borough
Helping the Council and other partners including businesses, voluntary sector, health, education, faith groups and the police to coordinate their actions effectively in Surrey Heath
Assisting partner organisations to work well together in organising current and future plans to meet the needs of the community of Surrey Heath
The new Community Strategy will be published in 2009 and will have a ten year rolling lifespan. Action plans will be produced to ensure that identified priorities are delivered.
Progress against the delivery of the action plans will be monitored by the Surrey Heath Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). A LSP is a single body that brings together different parts of the public sector as well as the business, community and voluntary sectors so that the various initiatives and services support each other and work together. Public, private, community and voluntary sector organisations all have a part to play in improving the quality of life for local people. The various sectors agree to commit to work together to influence strategic decision-making at a local level.
As part of the review of the Community Plan the existing membership of the LSP will be considered. The current membership is as follows:
