Business Continuity

The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (CCA) Act requires Surrey Heath as a Category One Responder to maintain plans to ensure that it can continue to perform functions in the event of an emergency. This duty relates to all the functions of a Category One Responder not just its civil protection function; the Council must be able to maintain its own crisis response capabilities whilst continuing to deliver critical aspects of its day-to-day functions if the impact on the community is to be kept to a minimum.

Outside the duties of the CCA the Council should have the capability to respond and put in place business continuity arrangements which provide resilience to other forms of disruption e.g. denial of premises (or part of), loss of staff, system failure etc.
