You can submit your form online using the Governments Business Link website. By clicking on the link below you will be directed to their site.
You must tick all the boxes which apply to your business, answer all the questions and give all the information requested.
What does it cost?
There is no fee for registration
What information/evidence will I need to provide?
You need to provide the completed application form and any documentation asked for.
Are there inspections/assessments?
Once we have received your application, we will contact you and arrange to visit you at your premises.
We will assess your business three times a year in line with our code of practice. This could be an inspection, sampling a visiting you to see or discuss a specific issue in the premises.
What happens next?
We will look in depth at your processes and documentation. If necessary, we will discuss any work you need to do to comply with the regulations.
If your business achieves the required standards, we will grant you approval and issue you with a unique approval number which makes up part of the identification mark that you will need to apply to your products.
If I'm turned down, how do I appeal?
If we refuse your application, you can appeal against our decision to the local magistrates' court.
How long does the approval last and what's the renewal procedure?
Once we have approved your business, that approval will continue for the life of the business or until the legislation changes.
